Information
In and around Osmington Village we have a selection of lovely holiday cottages. Each cottage is ideally suited for coastal walks and for inland walks to the white horse. Guests have the added benefit of private parking at Eweleaze Farm for access to the secluded beach. Well behaved dogs are welcome at all of our properties, and guests are also welcome to borrow a dog from Eweleaze Farm for the day. Note: week bookings only Mid June - End August, Sat-Sat.
The Cartshed
The Cartshed is located on a very quiet, no-through road in the beautiful village of Osmington in Dorset. It has accommodation for 6 people across three bedrooms - two double rooms and one twin room with bunk beds. (Note, the double bed on the mezzanine is reached via a ladder and may not be suitable for some people). A cot and high chair is also provided. There is off-road parking for two cars at the front of the property, and for one car to the rear of the property. The front garden is enclosed with a stone wall and gate, and has a pond and stream (both guarded), and a swing set. The secluded back garden is enclosed by hedges and has a small patio area with seating and a barbeque, a hot tub, and a lawn area with a clothes line. The cottage has been converted from an old barn and has retained a sense of history and character with its stone walls, exposed timber beams and flagstone floors. When selecting beds, please note that unless specified, we will make up the double in the main downstairs bedroom.
Shortlake Cottage
Although recently built, this building actually seems older than the farmhouse it's next to. With oak beamed roof trusses and stone walls inside and out there is a sense of permanence about this place. Shortlake Cottage sleeps up to 5 guests, and consists of two bedrooms (room one has one double bed, and room two consists of one double bed and one single bed). Shortlake Cottage is located just off a quiet no-through-road and looks out over fields to the coast beyond. From the cottage, you can find The Smugglers Inn, and a couple of small shops, which are approximately just a 5 minute walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 5 minutes or so across the fields. When selecting beds, please note that unless specified, we will make up the double in the main downstairs bedroom. Please note: In July and August traffic to Shortlake Campsite passes in front of the cottage.
The Old Lookout
This is a small stone built building set on a hill at Shortlake Farm just to the south of the village. It is built on the site of a WWII gun battery, and commands panoramic views over Weymouth & Portland, and out across the English Channel. It is located just off a quiet no-through-road, up a gravel track, and is surrounded by pasture. The Old Lookout can sleep up to 6 guests. There are two bedrooms within the property (one with a double bed, and the convervatory with a bunk bed, and a single pull out). There is also a double bed in the Shepherds Hut. From the cottage, you can find The Smugglers Inn, and a couple of small shops, which are approximately just a 5 minute, walk away. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 10 minutes or so across the fields. Outside is a small patio area with a hot tub and table and chairs which overlooks Weymouth Bay, and continues beyond onto grassy fields. The pictures speak for themselves - 180 degree plus uninterrupted views over the surrounding sea and coastline. Around the property are fields belonging to the farm where we graze sheep and occasionally cattle. The walk to Shortlake Farm's private beach takes just 5 minutes or so across the fields. When selecting beds, please note that unless specified, we will make up the double in the main bedroom. Please note: In July and August Shortlake Campsite, which surrounds The Lookout, is operating - Pros and Cons: some people have their friends stay at the campsite, the farmshop is operating so you can buy supplies, but there are people coming and going around the outside of the cottage gardens.
